A Major Breakthrough

As part of the 6th wave of « hospital-university research » labeling, Inserm has announced the selection of 19 innovative projects, among which LIVER-TRACK stands out as a revolutionary program dedicated to the early prediction of cirrhosis complications. Led by Professor Pierre-Emmanuel Rautou, this ambitious project is supported by the France 2030 investment plan, which aims to promote innovation in the field of medical research.

The primary objective of LIVER-TRACK is to detect liver complications early, particularly hepatic decompensation and liver cancer, which are major public health challenges. Cirrhosis, an insidious and often asymptomatic disease, can lead to these serious complications, affecting patients’ quality of life and significantly increasing mortality rates.

Thanks to an innovative approach based on monitoring extracellular vesicles as biomarkers, LIVER-TRACK offers the prospect of more predictive and personalized medicine. These tiny cellular fragments released by distressed cells provide crucial information about the liver’s health, enabling the identification of patients at risk of complications even before symptoms appear.
