Partners

The LIVER-TRACK project is situated at the interface between clinic, research, and industry.
The consortium combines outstanding research groups and industrial partners with complementary expertise. Partners have gathered strong preliminary data regarding: i) the value of EV protein biomarkers to predict the risk of decompensation and liver cancer, ii) the feasibility of unbiased EV protein biomarker discovery by proteomics (Institut Curie), iii) novel techniques of EV measurement (Inserm); iv) promising cancer proteins and SNPs (Université Sorbonne Nord); v) biomarker engineering and commercializing (BioPredictive); vi) feasibility of single-EV imaging by super-resolution microscopy (Abbelight).

APHP gathers university hospitals located in Paris and its surroundings. APHP teams will screen and include patients in CIR-QUID-NASH, EV-CONTROL and EV-STABILITY studies. The diabetology department at Lariboisiere hospital (Paris), led by Prof. Jean-Francois Gautier, and the hepatology department at Cochin hospital (Paris) involving Dr Anais Vallet-Pichard will participate in CIRQUID-NASH, following their active involvement in the QUID-NASH RHU program. Several members of the Hepatology Department at Beaujon Hospital, headed by Prof. Francois Durand, will contribute to CIR-QUID-NASH but also allow completion of EV-STABILITY cohorts. EV-CONTROL will be carried of at the hôpital Bichat, Paris, thanks to the involvement of Prof. Xavier Duval and Mrs Estelle Marcault.

The Institut Curie, the leading cancer center in France, combines an internationally renowned research center with a state-of-the-art hospital complex that treats all types of cancer, including the rarest forms. Founded in 1909 by Marie Curie, the Institut Curie brings together 3,700 researchers, doctors, and healthcare professionals across three sites (Paris, Saint-Cloud, and Orsay) around its three missions:

  • Care
  • Research
  • Teaching

A foundation recognized as serving the public interest and authorized to receive donations and bequests, the Institut Curie, thanks to the support of its donors, can accelerate discoveries and thus improve treatments and the quality of life for patients.

Founded in 2016, Abbelight is a fast-growing company specialized in imaging solutions focusing on microscopy and unique single molecule detection (super-resolution).

The portfolio integrates a constantly evolving knowhow on chemistry, optics and computer science to offer a complete solution, from sample preparation to data management, including an optimal bio-imaging platform that can be adapted to all researchers’, biotechlabs’ and medical facilities’ needs.

Abbelight is a French company developed by four passionate researchers who aim to help improve human health in various areas such as bacteriology, extracellular vesicles, neurosciences, structural biology…

Today, Abbelight employs over 60 people who are all driven by the goal of providing the best solutions and support to our customers all around the world.

Cataldo Schietroma, PhD, serves as the WP2 leader for Abbelight. A research biologist with specialized expertise in super-resolution imaging, Dr. Schietroma has authored several publications in international journals. Following his post-graduate research at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA), where he developed advanced imaging workflows, he joined the Institut Pasteur and Institut de la Vision in Paris, France, to lead research on the pathophysiology of human retinal diseases. In 2017, Dr. Schietroma joined Abbelight to advance the application of super-resolution microscopy in fundamental and translational biological research. Currently, as Head of Bioassay Development, he adapts Abbelight’s technologies to meet clinical needs and leads the Evolve project at the Paris Saclay Cancer Cluster.

AFEF is the French Society of Hepatology. AFEF brings together all French speaking researchers and clinicians involved in hepatology. In LIVER-TRACK, AFEF will disseminate information to physicians and scientists using different channels, but also to the general public. AFEF will also share its professional network with LIVER-TRACK and bring knowledge of the HEPATHER study. Benedicte Vauban is responsible for communication and partnership.
